160km/hr as the norm

Autobahn is just like other highways as long as you don’t look at the speedometers. Many many wind power generators stood in the fields by the autobahn.

Akademie Schloss Solitude was filled with smoke as the year turned 2009.fog

Just a few more days left this year

CCC Day 4 had talks on interesting topics such as GMO and Wikileaks. Sundried tomatoes in olive oil are tasty.  Fireworks have started already.

and it’s getting colder

Club-Mate is refreshing. Halumi at Califa is addicting but grog is not. Vegetarichen hotdogs were not available at 3AM.

There’s an old saying that when one is in a foreign country, she can spend a whole evening reading and enjoying a restaurant menu. The wisdom was proven true at Morgenrot tonight.

abandaned buildings are amazing

Seth was correct again. Teufelsberg’s fences were actively maintained and so were the holes. viewChildren played happily in the playground as well as at the listening station. Echoing in the top dome was impressive and inspiring.

The talk on the porn storage was given by a female and attended mostly by male. Two people in the audience claimed that there was no porn on their machines and two people yayed for secure porn storage systems.

The vegetarichen teller was large and vegan.

and we met some friends at CCC

towerThe CCC spaceshuttle has arrived in Berlin. Truffle pasta was again excellent and apfelshorle has been added to our daily consumption item list.

Vegetarian hotdogs were available at 4AM and were followed by Doner falaful. The Fernsehturm can lead us home regardless of our intoxication levels.

and we still use jetlag as an excuse

bestpaperThe Christmas markets are still open but many restaurants are closed. The best paper is found in Deutsches Technikmuseum. Hopfen does not smell appetizing and the dissembled engines are still impressive.

Today’s falaful was 2.80 and it is -2C outside.

December 25th, 2008

It was chilly

The city was back in action today. Beuys at Hamburger Bahnhof seemed complete and complex. Honey was circulating in a tube and the coyote was confused. Beuys

Reichstag had one of the best designs for combining old and new elements of the architecture. Does the dome turn into gigantic water slides on rainy days?

The toes were frozen under the Brandenburg Tor. Hotel Adlon takes non-guests 10AM to 5PM on M-Th but not on Christmas. Apfelstrudel with vanilla sauce and hot cappuccino thawed our feet and melted our hearts.

The town was beautifully decorated for today. ApfelSchorle at Biaz was good, large, and cheap. But the bathroom for the damen was open and occupied by a man in action.

The feast lasted for 9 hours

All the shops closed early today. Even the Ferris wheels in the Christmas markets stopped rotating for the day.

The feast started on time at 8PM. The lengths of the breaks between courses increased exponentially. It ended with Irish whiskey at 5:30AM.

so we kept walking

houseTreptower Park was very large and mostly empty. The explanation of the park was in German but the language in the murals was universal. Graffiti art is everywhere. Amidst the old buildings stand brightly colored apartments.

Daily dose of truffle oil has been replaced with doner falaful.

but we are still jetlagged

Falaful on Doner bread is only 2.80 and is excellent. It tastes even better at 2AM — so did Japanese curry. The taxis are mostly Mercedes-Benz or VW.

Wines with less quality should be consumed as the night goes on. Especially after some beer and curry consumption.
